A long-term illness could kill your small business
News from Simply Business - independent providers of business insurance, business finance, landlords insurance, buy-to-let mortgages, commercial mortgages and information for small businesses.
Long-term illnesses suffered by small business owners can be catastrophic and potentially result in a business having to close, it has been claimed.
According to Stephen Alambritis, head of public affairs at the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), without adequate aftercare in instances of long-standing illness, a business has less of an opportunity to survive.
As a result, the FSB has recently launched a new service - FSB Care - in an effort to give more support to SMEs.
"A small business can go under simply because the entrepreneur is suffering anxiety, depression, a feeling of abandonment as the result of suffering a heart attack or cancer or a stroke," said Mr Alambritis.
"Small businesses might go under simply because the boss isn't there," he added.
Among the benefits of FSB Care include therapy courses and access to a nurse for the provision of advice.
SMEs should not ignore the benefits of insurance - both for protecting themselves and their business against unforseen problems.
Simply Business offers a fast and easy service - compare business insurance quotes online from a range of providers and then either buy online or over the phone with an advisor.
