House price growth across Yorkshire and the Humber beat London over the course of this month, it has been claimed.
According to data recently released by the Land Registry, during October 2007 house prices in Yorkshire and the Humber increased at a rate of two per cent, compared with growth of 1.3 per cent in the UK's capital during the month of September.
However, although the Land Registry's figures reported an overall house price increase of 0.4 per cent across England and Wales, this growth was not corroborated by data released from Hometrack, a property consultancy firm.
Indeed, according to Hometrack, over the course of the month - in England and Wales - house prices decreased by a total of 0.1 per cent.
"A further decline in sales volumes is inevitable over the months ahead as buyers, the majority of whom do not need to move, wait until the outlook for the market and interest rates become clearer," said Richard Donnell, director of research at Hometrack.
