Landlords within the buy-to-let property sector are increasingly favouring corporate tenants, it has been claimed.

Data released following a survey by the Mortgage Trust, a firm established in 1986, has found that the number of landlords specifically opting to attract corporate tenants has increased from a total of 14.4 per cent at the beginning of 2007 to 27 per cent at present.

"Corporate tenants offer landlords stability and they also tend to pay above average rents because they demand high-quality properties and want the right locations for their employees," said John Heron, managing director of the Mortgage Trust. "This market is going from strength to strength," he added.

Also highlighted by the study was the tendency for buy-to-let landlords to target couples ahead of single tenants, with 52 per cent and 34 per cent respectively preferring to target each category.
