NAEA announces positive housing market findings

The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) has reported a new sense of momentum in the UK's property market.

Data released by the organisation indicates a return to growth in the UK's property sector, with the number of home purchasers during the first month of 2008 increasing by 11 per cent.

Moreover, between December 2007 and January 2008, housing sales increased to eight per cent - representing a rise of three per cent.

"The return of buyers and particularly first time buyers early in 2008 marks a significant change in the fortunes of the market," said Peter Bolton King, chief executive of the NAEA, an organisation with a membership base of 10,000.

"Our advice to all buyers is that whilst we have been seeing a number of negative national stories about the housing market recently, it is important to keep it in perspective."

The organisation has also reported a January housing stock rise of nine per cent.
