The UK's Land Registry has confirmed a fall in the levels of house price growth.
According to data released by the organisation, although house prices remained static during the month of February, in annualised terms house price growth has continued to drop across England and Wales.
Indeed, while house prices in the West Midlands increased by 1.3 per cent in February, during the month house prices in Wales fell by 1.1 per cent and in London by 0.4 per cent.
Presently, the average price of a property in Wales and England is now £185,616.
"Lenders are continuing to respond to the worsening conditions in the money markets by raising the cost of mortgage loans and tightening up on lending criteria," said Simon Rubinsohn, chief economist for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Mr Rubinsohn also noted that, in his opinion, interest rates are likely to continue their movement downwards.
