SMEs face difficulties with commercial properties
Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the south-east of England are encountering significant problems with their commercial premises, it has been claimed.
According to comments made by Philip Moody, head of member services for the Forum of Private Business (FPB), SMEs are encountering a number of difficulties in the south-east as a result of a lack of appropriate buildings and rent levels that may be difficult to afford.
"We always have reports of owner-managers of smaller businesses having difficulties finding business space," said Mr Moody.
"It is especially true in the south-east, because of the high rents and a lack of suitable business premises," it added.
Indeed, according to the FPB, increases in the cost of private property have had an impact on the price of commercial locations which SMEs require.
