With profits enhanced by the weakness in the dollar, eBay has revealed an increase of 22 per cent.
"I would say the international markets are important and right now they are benefiting from a weak dollar," said Martin Pyykkonen, internet analyst at Global Crown Capital, in a report by the BBC.
Specifically, the firm has revealed that over the course of this year's first quarter, the company's net income increased to $459.7 million (£233 million), which compares with a previous total of $377.1 million for the same quarter in 2007.
Jeffrey Lindsay, an analyst with Sanford C Bernstein & Co, added in a report by Bloomberg: "Essentially, they're doing the small things right and sticking to their knitting."
The company's annual revenues have also been confirmed, with eBay announcing projections of between $8.7 billion and $9 billion.
