One in five apprenticeships last just six months according to a new study.

The National Audit Office also said the majority of apprenticeships were given to those over the age of 25, indicating that they are not being used to create new jobs. [Telegraph]

Further quantitative easing is expected next month following news that businesses and individuals are paying down their debts.

The Bank of England found that money supply dropped by 1.4 per cent in December – the biggest fall since records began. [Guardian]

Grants for small businesses have created “significant” numbers of new jobs according to a new study.

A report from the London School of Economics suggested that the Grants for Business Investment scheme has created 2,361 jobs since 2004. [Telegraph]
