Almost three quarters of small business owners continue to work while on holiday.
This is according to a new survey from Intuit, which suggests that many managers find it impossible to switch off despite leaving the office.
The report suggested that more than a third are concerned about leaving their business to go on holiday.
The worry was particularly acute amongst managers in the leisure and retail and hospitality sectors.
Some 14 per cent indicated that they spend as much working while away as they do relaxing.
Pernille Bruun-Jensen, Intuit UK managing director, said: “Everybody needs to take time off now and then but our findings show that small business owners never switch off, even when they could really do with switching off.
“The key is to work as efficiently as possible when on holiday so these entrepreneurs can spend more time nearer the pool than by the laptop.”
