Veuve Clicquot on the hunt for top women in business

The search has begun for the 2011 Business Woman of the Year, with nominations now open.

The Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award attempts to find the most inspirational women in business, and considers both entrepreneurs and leaders of established organisations.

The award, which is now in its 38th year, considers corporate culture and social responsibility as well as pure financial achievement.

This year, the judging panel will look particularly closely at women who “deliberately embed socially and environmentally responsible business practices within their businesses.”

A shortlist of five finalists will be compiled, with a winner chosen in March 2011.

Nominations can be submitted through the award website, and should be supported by as much information as possible – including CV, accounts, and company reports.

Despite improvements in workplace equality, women remain chronically under-represented in the upper echelons of business. Just 14 per cent of UK firms are owned by women.
