Towns close to the coast come out top when it comes to UK destinations for stag and hen nights, according to stag party specialists Designaventure, and give a much needed boost to many small businesses.
Bristol is top of the pile, with Bournemouth, Newquay and Edinburgh also making the list. Nottingham is the only popular non-coastal town to make the list.
While local residents may throw up their hands in horror at the drunken antics of brides and grooms to-be, the custom that these groups bring to seaside towns can be a big boost to businesses, especially during the off-peak seasons.
Marco Walker of Designaventure suggests that towns and cities close to the sea have more to offer large groups in terms of activities. “Bristol is a year-round destination and as well as being close to the coast it also has a number of attractions,” he said.
Smaller seaside locations will also start to benefit from the stag and hen business as the weather improves, giving small businesses a chance to maximise their revenue over the spring and summer.
Rosie Beasley, marketing communications manager at Simply Business says: “There is big money to be made all year round in stag and hen parties, and smaller businesses in key locations like seaside resorts should be finding ways to tap into this revenue stream.”
