The National Landlord Association (NLA) has warned buy-to-let landlords against relying too heavily on internet resources, which may be unreliable.
According to the representative body, which is celebrating its 35th birthday this year, the level of regulation for landlords has risen dramatically since the increase in the use of online resources.
The NLA warned that although information can be helpful for landlords to stay abreast of up-to-date rules, too much of it can prove to be counter-productive.
David Salusbury, chairman of the NLA, said landlords need to remember that they cannot believe everything they read online.
"With so many rule changes and complicated detail, the right information is critical. Why take the risk by simply using a search engine when, with the NLA, the correct material can be right at hand?" he stated.
Research from Paragon showed the majority of landlords have undertaken improvements to their homes in a bid to improve energy-efficiency.
