The months of summer are the busiest times for moving home, according to a new survey.
Nationwide Building Society says that more people move home during the summer than at any other time of year. In doing so, they should also take the opportunity to assess the cost of their mortgage.
"When people move house they spend considerable amounts of time choosing carpets and curtains but don't always pay as much attention to less visible but equally important elements," said Matthew Carter, divisional director for mortgages and savings at Nationwide.
Moving home is often a stressful process, but ensuring you get the best deal on your mortgage will at least take the pressure off your finances," he added.
During the summer months of 2006, more than 210,000 borrowers moved to a new home, according to Nationwide Building Society.
