Small business owners have raised awareness of late payment problems with a hilarious parody of Adele hit ‘Chasing Pavements’.
The song, titled ‘Chasing Payments’, is a light-hearted look into a very real problem facing small business owners in the UK, and was put together by accountancy software firm, Xero, as part of a campaign looking into the ‘late payment epidemic’.

The lyrics include lines such as ‘It’s that time of the day. That time that I’ve been dreading, look to see who has paid. But I don’t need to look because I know, no one will have paid me again.’

Small business late payments - a serious issue
However, don’t let the comical video fool you - late payment can have a crippling effect on small businesses.
And it’s been a major issue for small business owners for a long time. In fact, our Simply Britain survey of over 3,000 business owners back in 2014 revealed that late payments are one of the major challenges facing micro-businesses.
Research from earlier in this year showed that - astonishingly - more than half of all small business invoices are paid late. However, there are steps that small business owners can take to lessen the strain.
