Are you a tradesman with a passion for football? A pre-season trial at a Football League club could be yours if you enter Fiat Professional’s new competition.
The search for the next Stuart Pearce
The commercial van brand is the official partner of the Football League, and this week launched a nationwide search to find talented tradesmen to take part in exclusive trials in June.
Fiat Professional has drawn inspiration from the likes of former electrician Stuart Pearce, ex-plasterer Ian Wright, and Dean Windass and Vinnie Jones who once worked as hod carriers.
Andrea Patti from Fiat Professional explained:
“Our aim is to find the next big name who has the footballing ability, but just hasn’t had the right opportunity.”
Think you’ve got what it takes?
To enter, upload a video to the Fiat Professional site showcasing your skills, and submit information about your footballing and trade experience.
The tradesmen with the most potential will be invited to a trials day in June, and from there one will be picked for the month-long paid trial. If things go well, the trial could even lead to a full time professional contract.
Win a van instead of a possible football career
And if you’re a football fan but you don’t see yourself as the next Wayne Rooney, there’s a competition for you too: the van brand wants to know which of their vans would be the best ‘player’ to have on your team, with the chance to win a vehicle from their new range.
So whether you see yourself playing to a crowd of thousands or just enjoying a shiny new set of wheels, check out the site to find out more and enter.
Do you think a football competition for tradesmen is a smart idea or a bit of a misstep? And which of your football heroes once worked as tradesmen? Tell us in the comments.
