The Startups Awards are back and searching for Britain’s brightest new businesses.
he 11th Startups Awards are gathering momentum with entries opening, judges confirming and yours truly signing up as headline sponsors. It’s the second year in a row we’ve been involved from the outset and we’re proud to put our name behind the awards. You startups deserve a pat on the back and it’s a pleasure to be amongst those delivering it.
So, what are the Startups Awards?
Exactly what they sound like! Open only to businesses launched within the last three years, the Startups aim to celebrate the best of Britain’s startup scene. Previous winners include the Cambridge Satchel Company, YPlan and Ella’s Kitchen, so it’s fair to say they’ve picked up knack for unearthing the cream of the crop.
What are the categories?
There are thirteen categories for 2014 including some entirely new awards, like Restaurant of the Year, Independent Shop of the Year, and Crowdfunded Business of the Year. Designed to recognise impressive startups from across the business spectrum, these new additions are set to make this year’s awards the biggest in its history.
Judging will be a mixture of experts, from CEOs to leading broadsheet journalists, with our chief operating officer Chris Slater set to join the illustrious panel. Picked from a range of sectors and backgrounds their knowledge is second to none.
How do I enter?
To get the ball rolling you’ll need to request your entry pack via the Startups website. They’ll then shoot you a link to where you can download the pack and get cracking with your entries.
The entry form needn’t take forever but you ought to give it plenty of time, as sloppy stats and spelling mistakes tend to make the judges irate. Craft them carefully and keep them truthful and you’ll be on the right track.
How much does it cost to enter?
Naturally, most startups aren’t blessed with cash so entry costs have been kept low. You’ll only face paying £50+VAT per entry, and you can do that here.
The deadline is the 12th September so there’s still plenty of time to sculpt your entries. For more info check out the Startups Awards website - best of luck from Simply Business HQ!
