What would you do with £1,000?

Last month Simply Business travelled to Northamptonshire to deliver a cheque for £1,000 to one lucky business owner.

During the 2013 Simply Business Aspire Competition we asked the UK’s small businesses to tell us what they would do with £1,000. We had a huge number exciting of entries, but eventually we narrowed them down to just one.

At our Business Show stand at London’s ExCel, Gareth Aggett, commercial director of the Northampton & Lamport Railway, told us that he would spend the cash on a ‘multiplier’ event - a fantastic business and PR booster for the railway, due to kick off in spring 2014. We won’t go into too many details as we’re keen not to let the cat out of the bag, but you can catch the tiny railway’s moment of triumph in the video below, and check out all the fun of the day on our Pinterest board.

Congratulations also to Kasey Clarke of Kupkase and Neil Gokani of Caerleon Pilates & Physio – both prize-winning runners up with fantastic pitches for their own business ventures. You can catch all 20 of our original shortlisted Aspire pitches here.
