A summer of award success for the marketing team was topped off last week by double recognition at the Insurance Times’ Technology in Insurance Awards.
Following the crowning of our Step-by-Step Guide to Social Media Success as Marketing Campaign of the Year at the UK Broker Awards, last week we celebrated winning the Best Use of Mobile Technology award at the prestigious Technology in Insurance awards. We were also highly commended in the Best Use of Social Media category.
Marketing Optimisation Manager Milo Spencer-Harper had presented the Simply Business mobile site to the panel, showing the simple, practical interface he’d created. Our win demonstrated the success of our agile development process and the positive effects of giving team members the flexibility and encouragement to pursue projects they are interested in.
Along with some tech and design help, Milo got the site up and running in a very short space of time. It helps to fulfill our company aim of making insurance quick and simple to buy, as it provides a way of finding insurance information on the go.
The judges praised the simplicity of the site and our efficient way of measuring results; we know that a large proportion of people who call us after they’ve visited the mobile site go on to buy insurance from us.
We were also very pleased to be highly commended for our use of social media. We use our social media platforms – Twitter, Facebook and Google+ - to share useful advice and information with small businesses, as well as to provide customer service. Our community manager David Buxton promptly responds to any queries or complaints that come through via social media, and his work on integrating social media with ZenDesk has meant that automatic service tickets can be created.
Very well done to Milo, David, and everyone else who was involved, including the specially-trained contact centre staff who have been dealing with the mobile site leads. Milo and our front-end developer Fei were some of the youngest guests at the awards ceremony, so to see them collect two trophies was refreshing, and a great sign of how we’re managing to change the face of the insurance industry.
