Insurance innovator breaks the mould with happiest workforce in the UK

Simply Business wins sought after title again through dedication to innovation.

Simply Business has topped the Sunday Times Best Company To Work For list once again following a comprehensive judging process of employee satisfaction in over a thousand UK firms. CEO Jason Stockwood also won the award for Best Leader.

Launched in 2005, Simply Business has spent the last eleven years disrupting the insurance sector through the application of technology, innovative thinking and championing their sole traders and small business customers at every turn.

Expanding rapidly in both its London and Northampton offices, Simply Business has grown to 350 employees and insures 350,000 small businesses nationwide. It has been a Sunday Times Tech Track 100 company for the past three years and was recently named in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA.

The business has been led by Jason Stockwood since 2010, during which time he’s lead a philosophy that’s built an engaged workforce that benefits everyone, from customers to investors. Stockwood has a history of working in disruptive online businesses including match.com and lastminute.com and has grown the Human Resource and Learning and Development teams from 5 to almost 15 in four years.

The premium placed on employee engagement has been vital to the growth of the business and the initiatives that the team has implemented span everything from health to maternity leave to charity efforts.

Jason Stockwood, CEO of Simply Business comments: “When I joined Simply Business in 2010, I knew something very special could be achieved here. I saw its raw potential, all that it required was a bit of direction. It’s a fact of modern business that by investing in a happy, engaged workforce you’re also investing in your customers. Getting it right internally is good for everybody, including the SMEs buying our products.

“Six years on we have grown from 130,000 to 350,000 small business customers and the workforce has doubled in size. This has only been possible by making every single member of the team feel empowered to achieve their full potential. I’m proud that Simply Business is the ‘Best Company to Work For’ for the second year running and hope that our approach to people management will encourage other businesses to think harder about their employees’ satisfaction and wellbeing.”
