Jason Stockwood - Chief executive officer

Jason Stockwood is chief executive officer at Simply Business, the UK’s largest business insurance provider.

Bringing a wealth of online experience to the role, Stockwood joined Simply Business in May 2010 in a bid to drive growth, innovation and reinforce the company’s market-leading position in online insurance.

With experience of leading some of the UK’s most influential online businesses, Stockwood is responsible for developing Simply Business as a contemporary brand, challenging the traditional world of insurance. He has an in-depth understanding of the online marketplace along with a fresh vision and provocative ideas to propel the brand forward.

Stockwood joined Simply Business from the global dating website,, where he was UK and International Managing Director. Prior to this, he spent time working in the travel industry as managing director at Travelocity, and in commercial roles at Trailfinders, and

Chris Slater – Chief Operating Officer

Chris Slater is chief operating officer

Chris is chief operating officer at Simply Business, a role he has held since September 2010, having previously held the role of Head of Insurance. Chris is primarily responsible for the areas of product development, claims, affinities/partnerships and the in-house underwriting agency. He oversees a 10 person team of market specialists in each of these areas. Chris joined the business in June 2004 and has played a key part in developing and launching the Simply Business platform in June 2005.

Prior to working at Simply Business, Chris worked in a number of roles over four-and-a-half years at Royal & SunAlliance, including a role on the MORE TH>N launch team. His time at Royal & SunAlliance culminated in an 18 month executive assistant role for the group chief executive, Andy Haste, incorporating work on their group strategic review, rights issue and on site exit of the US business.

Chris is a graduate of Business Economics at the University of Liverpool and holds an MBA from City Business School. Outside of the world of insurance, Chris is hyper competitive and enjoys regularly enjoys playing football, squash and golf, alongside running.

Lukas Oberhuber, Chief Technology Officer

Lukad oberhuber is chief technology officer

Lukas joined Simply Business as Chief Technology Officer in September 2010 with the aim of increasing flexibility and agility of the organisation through technology. Since joining he has implemented a number of new systems and processes including Agile, transforming the speed and efficiency of new product development.

Prior to Simply Business, Lukas was CTO at Forward Internet Group, where he was responsible for the creation and management of Agile development teams during a period of huge company expansion. He has also held enterprise architecture and program management roles at business and technology consultancy, Sapient, as well as founding internet telecoms company, SipAlive.

Lukas is a graduate of Computer Science at Harvard University, holds dual French and US nationality and has worked in the US, Italy, Germany and the UK. When he’s not building Agile teams Lukas enjoys creative writing and is a keen footballer and skier. He is married with two daughters.

Kevin Fleming – Chief Financial Officer

Kevin Flemming is chief financial officer

Kevin Fleming has held the role of chief financial officer at Simply Business since September 2010. Fleming joined the business with a wealth of experience working with businesses undergoing significant growth or change.

Kevin has worked with a number of start-ups and web-based businesses including Argent Vive and Impart Ltd in addition to working with online business advice and online introduction service.

Kevin is originally from Ireland, where he studied at the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He is a self-declared wine buff and is a founding member and contributor to wine magazine Mywinespace.

Deborah Reid - Underwriting Manager

Deborah Reid at Simply Business

Deborah Reid joined Simply Business in 2010 following the company’s decision to create an internal underwriting team to support its third party insurers.

As part of the management team, Deborah works to ensure that Simply Business products are competitive and meet the needs of the increasing customer base. In a constantly evolving market, Deborah’s role focuses on embracing technology and the opportunities it provides for growth and customer satisfaction, whilst maintaining the personal elements of a broker relationship.

With 12 years experience in the insurance industry, Deborah joined Simply Business from Hiscox, where she was responsible for professional indemnity insurance, office insurance and commercial underwriting. Prior to Hiscox, Deborah completed the Lloyds graduate trainee scheme.

Deborah has an undergraduate degree in English from Trinity College, Dublin and is ACII qualified. When not making the most of living in London with her young family she is a keen runner and is training for her first triathlon.

Arvinder Mangat - Company secretary

Arvinder Mangat is the company secretary

Arvinder Mangat is Company Secretary at Simply Business, a role he’s held since 2007.

Mangat is responsible for ensuring Simply Business is compliant with all relevant rules and regulations, covering employment legislation, industry requirements and board level issues. He has been an FSA approved person since 2004, prior to the regulation for insurance brokers coming into force.

In the early years of the business, Mangat was central to the company’s development through setting up business partnerships and orchestrating the first ever commercial mortgage quote which led to the Simply Business offering being established. He was also the first member of staff to talk to insurance customers in 2003; he likes to think that at least one insight has helped.

Prior to Simply Business, Mangat worked at two start ups. He also worked at two international law firms, Freshfields (M&A) and Sidney & Austin (securitisation), after being called to the Bar in 1996.

Mangat has a law degree from Oxford University and enjoys cricket and cycling. He is currently the acting president for the North London chapter of a 25k strong cycling community.
